OVERLOOKING THE DEEP TYRRHENIAN SEA, JUST A FEW KILOMETERS FROM ROME, LA POSTA VECCHIA IS NOT JUST A HOTEL. IT'S A PLACE WHERE TIME STANDS STILL, HISTORY BREATHES WITHIN THE WALLS, AND HOSPITALITY BECOMES AN EXPERIENCE THAT TOUCHES ALL THE SENSES.
Every corner tells the story of centuries of noble history, the passage of artists, and the visits of travelers and collectors who have walked this path. This 16th-century residence, once owned by the powerful Orsini, was transformed in the 1960s by Jean Paul Getty in a private shelter.
During the work, the remains of the ancient Roman city of Alsium emerged: mosaics, precious marbles, and delicate ceramics. Today, they are housed in a private museum, accessible to guests, offering a private, intimate, and immersive cultural journey.
In 2023, the hotel underwent a thorough, respectful, and visionary restoration, bringing back the building's original elegance. The façades were allowed to breathe again, the restaurant's side porticos were reopened, and a new color palette, inspired by the noble residences of Lazio of the time, envelops the interiors with discreet grace. Each intervention preserved the villa's authentic soul, avoiding the superfluous and enhancing the memory of the place with subtle contemporary touches.
Driven by the vision of Marie-Louise Sciò, CEO and Creative Director of Pellicano Hotels Italy, the renovation blends heritage and innovation. Period furnishings blend with artwork and bespoke details, creating a sophisticated, international aesthetic that speaks to those seeking elegance without ostentation. The twenty-one rooms and suites, fourteen of which were renovated this year, are all different, each with its own character, all curated with obsessive attention to detail. The most iconic suites, such as the Getty, the Medici, and the Red Suite, offer breathtaking views, fine fabrics, antiques, and dreamlike atmospheres. Each space invites you to pause, breathe, and capture the purest essence of luxury: authentic, quiet, and enveloping. It's not ostentation. It's substance.

2025 marks the year of the Da Aurelio restaurant, the hotel's new gastronomic hub, a tribute to the philosophy of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Chef Andrea Barcia, who arrived this year after experiences in Australia, England, and Denmark, and a key stint at Hotel Il Pellicano, offers seasonal, elegant, and sustainable cuisine. Local ingredients are used, with absolute respect for local traditions, carefully reinterpreted.
The ethical project Il Dolce Far Bene accompanies the proposal: the Meat-Free MondayYes, meatless Mondays are part of a coherent and conscious approach, which makes taste a responsible gesture.
Starting in June, another new feature will be the expansion of the private beach, offering guests a larger and more private area, an exclusive corner where the Palo Laziale sea envelops you with its calm and beauty. Time slows down. The senses are heightened. You walk on the sand, listen to the wind, breathe in the horizon.
The experience is completed by the Piranesi Bar, once Getty's private study, offers moments of refined relaxation, and the Beauty Club, with Seed to Skin Tuscany treatments, a pool overlooking the castle, and two private beaches. Here, wellness becomes natural, authentic, a thread connecting body, mind, and landscape.
At La Posta Vecchia, luxury isn't on display. It's felt. It's in the silence of the sea, in the harmony between architecture and landscape, in the invisible attention to detail. It's a luxury experienced slowly, with wonder and care.
A luxury that speaks of history and the present, of art and hospitality, of what remains after the passing of fashions and time. Here, every moment is eternal..
