Innovation, environmental awareness, and excellent service for forward-looking rail mobility.
Italo NTV confirms its leadership in sustainable rail mobility and service excellence, as evidenced by its 2023 Sustainability Report. This document reflects the company's contribution to sustainable growth and its commitment to increasingly ambitious goals. Since its founding, Italo has placed respect and protection of the environment at the heart of its strategy, adopting innovative and sustainable solutions for a better future.
Sustainability and Innovation for a Green Future
The company has chosen latest-generation trains and less energy-intensive production processes, significantly reducing its environmental impact. In 2023, Italo achieved a 10.51 TP3T reduction in waste production compared to 2022, with 96 TP3T sent for recovery and 60 TP3T sorted. These results demonstrate its commitment to a circular economy and responsible resource management.
Italo continues to monitor its emissions, expanding its value chain calculations with a particular focus on Scope 3 emissions. The goal is to identify reduction opportunities and address climate change with concrete solutions.
Excellence in Service and Passenger Health
Its dedication to passengers has earned Italo first place in the "Italy's Best Customer Services 2023/2024" ranking. Safety is a top priority: since 2015, Italo has been the first railway operator in Italy to install two defibrillators on every train, making its fleet entirely "cardiac-safe." Furthermore, in 2021, Italo became the first railway operator in the world to install HEPA filters onboard, improving air quality and ensuring a safe environment for passengers and staff.
Prestigious Partnerships and Quality Offerings
Italo stands out for its constant pursuit of prestigious partnerships, offering top-quality products both in stations and on trains. Club lounges and executive lounges welcome travelers with exclusive services, while onboard trains, the experience is enriched with excellent solutions, combining comfort and luxury.
Governance and Sustainable Future
All of the company's activities, actions, and initiatives are possible thanks to a governance structure that is attentive to every aspect of sustainability and provides fundamental support in all decision-making processes. "We believe sustainability is essential to creating shared value and ensuring a better future and equitable growth for Italy and local communities," states Gianbattista La Rocca, CEO of Italo. "For the future, we have decided to commit to responsible management of the impacts of our business across the entire value chain, in accordance with the European Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). We are also working to be ready for the entry into force of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in 2025.".
Thanks to a forward-looking vision, the company continues to redefine the standards of rail mobility, actively contributing to the well-being of communities and the protection of the planet.
