THE MAGIC OF WORLD CINEMA RETURNS TO LA CROISETTE. AN EXTRAORDINARY EDITION FEATURING GREAT RETURNS, PROMISING DEBUT, AND ALL THE TIMELESS CHARM OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS FILM FESTIVAL.
The world of cinema is preparing to relive its most brilliant season: the 78th Cannes Film Festival, scheduled for May 14-25, 2025, promises to be an edition destined to remain etched in the memories of cinephiles, industry insiders, and dreamers. An edition full of surprises, where glamour and art meet on the world's most famous red carpet, along a Croisette that once again vibrates with emotion, history, and stars. At the center of attention will be Tom Cruise, ready to set the Sala Lumière ablaze with the eagerly awaited world premiere of the new chapter of Mission: Impossible. The American star, whose magnetic energy embodies the very essence of the Hollywood blockbuster, is among this year's most anticipated stars, a symbol of a cinema that still knows how to inspire dreams on a grand scale. But one of the most heartfelt tributes will be reserved for a living legend of the seventh art: Robert De Niro, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrated as one of the most iconic performers of the twentieth century. A tribute not just to an actor, but to a piece of world cinema history.
The international jury will be led by Juliette Binoche, an emblem of French auteur cinema and a refined face beloved around the world. Alongside her, a team of high-profile jurors will engage in a passionate debate over a rich and ambitious official selection, in which several titles have already secured a place in the competition. Among these, the return of Spike Lee, which will present Highest 2 Lowest, an urban thriller with Denzel Washington, loosely based on Kurosawa's Anatomy of a Kidnapping.
A highly anticipated work, which marks the return of the African-American director after the success of BlacKkKlansman and his presidency of the jury in 2021. Great expectations also for Julia Ducournau, Palme d'Or in 2021 with Titane, who returns with the mysterious and provocative Alpha, and for Jim Jarmusch, who signs Father, Mother, Sister, Brother with an exceptional cast made up of Cate Blanchett e Adam Driver. The visionary touch of Wes Anderson will not be missing this year either: the director will bring The Phoenician Scheme, with Benicio Del Toro, Tom Hanks e Scarlett Johansson, one of the most beloved presences on the Croisette. Applause is also guaranteed for Eddington, the new crazy western comedy by Ari Aster, with Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Austin Butler.

To further enrich the competition, there will be Nouvelle Vague by Richard Linklater, A fascinating homage to French cinema, focusing on the genesis of Godard's Breathless. Among the most intriguing new additions are the directorial debuts of two Hollywood divas: Kristen Stewart with Chronology of Water and Scarlett Johansson with Eleanor the Great, expected in the Un Certain Regard section, which has always welcomed the freest and most experimental voices on the international scene. Cannes remains the absolute temple of cinema. A place where past, present and future dialogue on the steps of the Palace, Where every evening is an event, every glance a promise, every film a journey. The greatest have paraded here—from Fellini to Coppola, from Bergman to Tarantino—and every year, as if by magic, the magic is renewed. Cannes is more than a festival: it's a shared dream, a living postcard of beauty, an experience that combines elegance and creativity, sophistication and depth, art and wonder. Under the clear Riviera skies, amid golden reflections and glitter, a secular ritual dedicated to cinema comes to life. And we are ready to experience it, frame by frame.
Welcome to Cannes. Welcome to the heart of cinema.
